God Declares Rulers Are His Ministers and Kings Are His Shepherds

Mark Virkler's picture

I knew the "pastor" of my church was a shepherd, but I sure missed the verses where God specifically stated that governmental rulers were also ministers. Since I used to believe in a sacred/secular split, there was no way a politician could be a minister in God's eyes. If I wanted to go into full-time Christian service, it was never suggested to me that a political career would be full-time ministry. So let's discover exactly what God says about this.

What Does God Say About Your Business? By Deb Brown Maher

Mark Virkler's picture

Hearing God’s voice is the beginning of business success.

Recently, Mark Virkler and I had a chance to share stories about hearing God’s voice. When Mark asked who taught me, he was surprised to hear, “No one.” I’d read the book “God Calling” and thought, if those two ladies can do it, so can I! God honored my assumption as I set time aside each day to pray, listen, write what I heard and check it against Scripture. Through that process I learned how to discern the Lord’s voice with clarity. That was 30 years ago. To this day I am increasingly dependent on hearing the Lord’s voice to guide me in all that I do.

A Working Definition of Anointed

Mark Virkler's picture

When I was asked in a seminar this week how I defined “anointing,” I was astounded that I couldn’t answer the question with a precise, clear definition. So I admitted that I couldn’t adequately answer the question, and decided on the spot that I would explore Scripture and get a simple, practical, working definition of what it means to “be anointed.” On reflection, I realize that some believe the anointing is shaking or falling down or roaring or shouting. These may all be responses to the anointing, but what exactly is the anointing?

God HAS Filled You with the Spirit to Succeed in the Home and Marketplace!

Mark Virkler's picture

Did you know that there is NO sacred/secular split in God’s eyes? The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof (Ps. 24:1), so nothing on this earth is secular. Nothing is satan's. It is ALL God’s. So any job I do is my ministry unto the Lord and His service through me to all of humanity (Col. 3:23-24). This includes construction, architecture, sewing, teaching others these crafts, etc.

Can Non-Christians Receive God's Creative Flow?

Mark Virkler's picture

I first became aware of the concept of flow in 1979. I was reading a book about the mind and there was a research article on “The Flow Experience.” Science had discovered that when people are in flow, they are more creative, more insightful and more effective than when in their normal state.

I pondered that and said, “That is sure true in my life.”

Heart of Generosity by Bill Dupley

Mark Virkler's picture

I love Christmas, I love everything about It., The Christmas songs, tree decorating and all the traditions. I particularly like Christmas movies, like “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, and "Scrooged." But my favorite is the 1951 version of "A Christmas Carol" with Alastair Sims. The story has been told 1000 different ways since Charles Dickens wrote it, yet its truth still rings out today.
